with a double-dome top above a pair of doors with chased-brass mounts, enclosing an arrangement of drawers, raised on a pierced stand, with all-over chinoiserie decoration, 106cm wide, 55cm deep, 110cm high; 199cm high overall including stand, Charles John Brinsley Butler, 7th Earl of Lanesborough, Charles John Brinsley Butler, 7th Earl of Lanesborough (1865-1929); Christie, Manson & Woods, 'Fine French & English Furniture, Objects of Art, Tapestry, Rugs and Statuary', 7 July 1932, lot 87; presumably purchased at the above sale by Henry Cavendish Butler, 8th Earl of Lanesborough (1868-1950); thence by descent to Lady Frieda Valentine (1895-1989); thence by descent to Mr and Mrs Francis Anthony Brinsley Valentine.
