A FINE PAIR OF 19TH CENTURY SILVER CANDELABRA MAKER'S MARK FOR WOLFERS FRERES, BELGIUM the Belgian silver candlesticks in the Empire style, the urn shaped candle nozzles with trellis work design over beaded drip pans, raised on three scrolling branches centred by a short straight fourth, on fluted spreading stems over domed circular bases, hallmarked with Belgian silver mark A835 and maker's mark of a W and boar's head for Wolfers Freres, 3140g (100.05 oz. t.) 46cm high (2) This pair of candelabra are marked with a W and boar head, the mark was registered by Louis François Guillaume Wolfers (1820-1892), the founder of the firm Wolfers Freres. This specific mark was used by the company from its registration in 1852 until Louis Wolfers' death in 1892. After 1892, the company name changed to Wolfers Frères, and the maker's mark was subsequently changed to three five-pointed stars in a triangle. sculpture
