A COPPER ARCHITECTURAL CUPOLA VENT BY EWART & SON, LATE 19TH CENTURY Of domed steeple form, manufacturer's plaque for "EWART'S VENTILATOR / EWART'S & SON LTD. / LONDON' 190cm high, the base 86cm square Ewart & Son Ltd. was founded in 1834 with early products including zinc baths, window boxes, aquariums and ferneries. The company was at the forefront of the use of copper as a roofing material and were responsible for the roofs of Buckingham Palace, the Bank of England and other public buildings. This roof ventilator appears as 'Design T' in their catalogue from the late 19th/early 20th century.
