Premium skull of fine, fantastic morbid art - alchemical tiger’s-eye skull with fine chatoyance "with living death eyes" a very fine piece - crafted in great detail - in this quality and mineral layering rare - tiger’s-eye was used in alchemical laboratories to produce the Philosopher’s Stone and to produce gold 91 g 5.10 x 3.90 x 3.40 cm - Tiger’s-eye: the golden-yellow to brown layers show a wonderful chatoyance: The absolute highlight of this piece is the pronounced chatoyance (also known as the cat’s-eye effect). When light hits the surface, a golden, silky shimmer travels across the mineral – similar to the pupil of a big cat. This effect arose through a fascinating pseudomorphosis: originally parallel-grown crocidolite fibers (a hornblende-asbestos type) were over millions of years replaced by crystal-clear quartz (silica). The fine fibrous structure remained perfectly preserved. Embedded iron hydroxide (limonite) gives the stone its world-famous honey-yellow to gold-brown coloring.
