6 Mid XXth Century cotton napkins with A.B. initials. - Napkin - 65 cm - 75 cm

This is an unusual set of 12 Egyptian cotton napkins with finely hand-embroidered A.B. initials. As this is a complete set, we have divided them into two sets of six napkins. It was fairly unusual for cotton to be used for napkins in the early 20th century, as linen was generally preferred. Perhaps cotton offered a more economical way of achieving a similar elegant effect at a considerably lower cost. The well embroidered A.B. monograms demonstrate excellent craftsmanship, and each napkin shows slight variations, confirming that they were individually hand embroidered. The Egyptian cotton has a lustrous, crisp appearance and a luxurious feel. Each napkin is finished with two matt borders, adding further refinement and elegance to the overall presentation.
