Beautiful and authentic set of three traditional briar tobacco pipes from the Alpine region, designed for outdoor use and in all weathers. All three pipes are in a very nice, original collection state and bear the authentic "Bruyère Garantie" stamp. This attests to the high quality of the briar root wood used from the tree heath. This set was manufactured in the mid-20th century by the renowned Swiss quality maker BBK (Brunner-Buhofer-Kompagnie) and exudes the atmosphere of the traditional hunting culture in the Swiss and Tyrolean Alps [Image 2]. Detailed description and specifications per pipe: 1. Large Swiss Hunting Pipe with Alpine Cow & Edelweiss • Origin: Switzerland (B.B.K.) [Image 2]. • Year/Period: Approx. 1950 (Mid-Century Vintage). • Mouthpiece Material: Colored and rustic finished briar wood with a heat-resistant metal inner lining in the bowl [Image 2]. • Fittings Material: Silver-plated / nickel-plated metal for the iconic wind cap (cutouts) and the detailed applications of an Alpine cow and Edelweiss flowers [Image 2]. • Shaft/Stem Material: Composed of high-quality resin / composite with a natural-looking horn-like appearance, equipped with a fine-mesh metal capping pin to prevent loss of parts [Image 2, Image 20]. 2. Classic Hunting Pipe with Capercaillie (Auerhahn) • Origin: Switzerland (B.B.K. – marked with Bruyère Garantie) [Image 4]. • Year/Period: Approx. 1950 (Mid-Century Vintage). • Mouthpiece Material: Dark-colored, hand-textured briar wood [Image 25]. Compact 'Bent Billiard' Outdoor / Pocket Pipe • Origin: Switzerland (B.B.K. – marked with Bruyère Garantie). • Year/Period: Approx. 1950 - 1960. • Mouthpiece Material: Deep black, intensely sandblasted briar wood with a smooth wooden firing chamber. • Fittings Material: Flat, glossy nickel-plated or chrome-plated metal for the sleek, hinged wind cap and the sturdy stem ring that reinforces the joint. • Shaft/Stem Material: Classic glossy black ebony (or high-quality acrylic) with a comfortably curved mouthpiece.
