2pc Kaethe Hoeltzell (American, 1925-2013) Oil on Canvas & Pope John

This original oil on canvas by artist Kaethe Hoeltzell depicts an impressionist-style garden filled with vibrant bushes, climbing roses, and a mown path leading to lush trees in bloom. Hoeltzell's expressive, textured brushwork captures the interplay of light and shadow with a natural fluidity, reflecting the influence of European romantic landscape traditions and her distinctive approach to garden subjects. The verso features a printed biography label from Schramm Galleries. The work is signed in paint on lower right K. Hoeltzell. A handwritten pencil inscription dated 1-20-93 states the painting was used in the quarters of Pope John Paul II during his 1987 visit to Miami. The lot includes a secondary framed commemorative display containing photographs of the interior suite, a letter of gratitude from the Archdiocese of Miami Office of Lay Ministry, a note from designer Carl Donato A.S.I.D., and related ephemera documenting the painting's provenance.
