2014 Château Léoville Barton - Saint-Julien Grand Cru Classé - 3 Bottles

2014 Château Léoville Barton – Saint-Julien Producer: Château Léoville Barton Wine: Château Léoville Barton Vintage: 2014 Region: Bordeaux, France Appellation: Saint-Julien AOC – 2ème Grand Cru Classé Quantity: 3 bottles × 75 cl A fantastic opportunity to acquire three bottles of the 2014 Château Léoville Barton, one of the most respected and traditional estates of Saint-Julien. Classified as a Deuxième Grand Cru Classé in the historic 1855 classification, Léoville Barton is renowned for producing classically structured Bordeaux with remarkable purity, freshness, and ageing potential. The history of the Barton family in Bordeaux dates back to 1722, when Thomas Barton, originally from Ireland, settled in Bordeaux. In 1826, his grandson Hugh Barton acquired 50 hectares of vines in Saint-Julien. The estate was subsequently classified as a Second Growth in the 1855 classification and has remained in the Barton family ever since. Today, the property is managed by the tenth generation of the family. The vineyard is beautifully situated in the heart of Saint-Julien, on gravelly slopes overlooking the Gironde. The combination of Garonne gravel and clay-rich subsoils provides excellent drainage while allowing the vines access to water during the growing season. The estate follows traditional vineyard practices and harvests entirely by hand. The 2014 vintage is composed of 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot and 2% Cabernet Franc. The grapes were harvested between 25 September and 8 October before fermentation in temperature-controlled wooden vats. The wine was then aged for approximately 16–18 months in French oak, with 60% new barrels. The 2014 Château Léoville Barton is an elegant and beautifully balanced expression of Saint-Julien. The château describes the wine with aromas of cherries, raspberries and grapefruit, combined with an opulent yet refined character. Further tasting notes reveal layers of blackberry, cassis, tobacco, cedar, dark chocolate, spice and mineral nuances. On the palate, the wine combines fine-grained tannins with vibrant acidity, concentration, and a long, savoury finish. The vintage has received excellent critical recognition, including 96 points from Jane Anson and Wine Enthusiast, 94 points from Wine Spectator, Neal Martin and James Suckling, highlighting the quality and ageing potential of this particular bottling. The bottles have been carefully stored under professional cellar conditions to preserve their quality and provenance. Label, capsule, and fill level are in excellent condition, as shown in the photographs. Collector's note: Château Léoville Barton is one of the benchmark Deuxièmes Crus of Saint-Julien, and the 2014 vintage offers an especially attractive combination of classic Bordeaux structure, freshness, and elegance. At around twelve years of age, these bottles are entering an excellent stage of maturity while retaining considerable ageing potential. As these are mature bottles, natural signs of age on the labels, capsules, or bottles may be present and should be considered part of their collectible character. An excellent opportunity to acquire three bottles of the 2014 Château Léoville Barton, combining the pedigree of a historic 2ème Cru Classé, the exceptional terroir of Saint-Julien, and the elegance and precision of the 2014 vintage. A compelling addition to any serious Bordeaux collection.
