Giuseppe Quintarelli – Valpolicella Classico Superiore 2013 – Lot of 6 Bottles Prestigious lot consisting of 6 bottles of 0.75 L Valpolicella Classico Superiore DOC 2013, produced by Giuseppe Quintarelli, one of the most celebrated and sought-after producers of Valpolicella Classica and Italian enology. Quintarelli’s Valpolicella Classico Superiore is one of the winery’s historic labels and is distinguished by an extremely traditional style, characterized by great structure, elegance, complexity, and a remarkable capacity for evolution. The 2013 vintage was rated 94–95+/100 by Heiner Lobenberg, who highlighted its great structure, elegance, and notable length. The wine is produced with a traditional blend which for this vintage is generally indicated as 55% Corvina, 30% Rondinella and 15% Cabernet. After vinification, the wine undergoes a long maturation in large Slavonian oak casks, for about 60 months according to the available technical sheets. Wine and winery history The Giuseppe Quintarelli winery, situated on the hills of Negrar in the heart of Valpolicella Classica, is one of the most prestigious realities of Italian viticulture. Giuseppe Quintarelli, also known by the nickname “Bepi,” built the winery’s reputation through a strongly traditional production philosophy, based on manual selection of grapes, use of indigenous yeasts, and very long aging periods in large casks. Valpolicella Classico Superiore is one of the most representative expressions of this philosophy. The winery uses a particular traditional interpretation of the ripasso technique: part of the grapes are vinified as dry wine, while another part is dried and subsequently blended with the first, contributing to the wine’s structure and complexity. The result is a Valpolicella of great depth, much more structured than most wines of the denomination, and capable of evolving for many years in bottle.
