UNIQUE VINTAGE: Château Latour – 2009 – Pauillac (Premier Grand Cru Classé) – 1 bottle (0.75 L) – 100 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate Storage and provenance: This bottle was released directly from the cellars of Château Latour in 2022, as stated on the estate's own back label, and has been kept since in professional, temperature-controlled conditions at around 12–13°C, stored horizontally for stable long-term ageing. Since leaving the en primeur system, Château Latour releases its wines only when it judges them ready, direct from the property — so an ex-château bottle of this kind offers the most secure provenance available for the estate, with unbroken cellar conditions from château to collector. The neck bears Château Latour's official authentication seal, with unique serial and QR code linking to chateau-latour.com; the capsule, labels and level are all pristine but with a minor storage colouring on the label. Wine critic ratings: Château Latour 2009 is one of the most celebrated wines of a monumental Bordeaux vintage, earning perfect scores from the world's leading critics. - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: 100/100 — Parker called it one of the most remarkable young wines he had ever tasted, a "clone of the super 2003, only more structured," with no doubt it could last a century, praising the - Pinault/Engerer team for one of the most monumental Latours ever made. The score was re-confirmed at 100 in later Wine Advocate tastings. - James Suckling: 100/100 — all power, grace and symmetry, describing it as one of those memorable tasting experiences that was impossible to spit. - Jeb Dunnuck: 100/100. Widely regarded, alongside the 2010, as one of the estate's greatest wines of the modern era. Producer and cuvée: Château Latour, in Pauillac, is one of the original First Growths of the 1855 Classification and one of the most iconic wine estates in the world, with a history stretching back nearly seven centuries. Its grand vin is drawn exclusively from the old vines of the walled Enclos vineyard surrounding the château's famous tower. Under owner François Pinault and long-serving director Frédéric Engerer, Latour has become a byword for uncompromising selection and wines of immense structure, depth and longevity. Vintage and style: 2009 was a legendary, sun-blessed Bordeaux vintage, and Latour produced one of its monuments. A blend of roughly 91% Cabernet Sauvignon and 9% Merlot, the wine shows blackcurrant, black cherry and plum with cedar, graphite, truffle and crushed-rock minerality — full-bodied and powerful yet remarkably fresh, with a finish measured in minutes. It is built for 50+ years of cellaring and, while already impressive, will reward long patience. Condition and packaging (this bottle): The lot comprises one 75 cl bottle (14% vol.) in outstanding condition, released ex-château in 2022: deep, intact red capsule embossed with the Latour lion-and-tower motif and République Française band, crisp and clean front and back labels, embossed "CHATEAU LATOUR PAUILLAC" glass, and an into-neck fill. The neck-mounted château authentication sticker (serial and QR code) is present and intact. Drinking window and collectability: With perfect scores from Parker, Suckling and Dunnuck, ex-château provenance and a drinking window extending past 2060, Latour 2009 is one of the most secure blue-chip investments in fine wine — and an unforgettable bottle for a special future occasion. For a First Growth of this stature, the ex-château release is exactly the provenance the market prizes most. Shipping and handling: As I care deeply about the storage and wellbeing of my wines, shipping will be handled with particular attention. I am happy to agree with the buyer, after the auction closes, on the optimal shipping date and method, taking into account weather conditions and transit times. The bottle will be securely packed in a sturdy carton with ample protective material to prevent movement and impact, and can be sent fully insured with signature on delivery. During warmer periods I can arrange insulated packaging and cooling elements, and we can opt for an express service to minimise time in transit. Happy Bidding!
