Property from a Private Collector, Savannah, GA Description: Large Group of 20 Ape Prints, including "The Lord Chief Justice", designed by Carlo Pellegrini (British, 1839-89, under the pseudonym of Ape) who served from 1869 to 1889 as a caricaturist for Vanity Fair magazine, comprising 'The Lord Chief Justice' (some staining to mat, surface dust to upper right corner), 'The Adjudant General', 'Statesman #24' (tears to upper and left edge, toning and minor foxing to paper), 'Men of the Day, #26' (with visible mounting residue upper edge), 'Statesmen #75' (minor foxing), 'Men of the Day #20' (tear upper edge), 'Statesmen #85' (minor mat burn upper edge), 'Statesmen #9' (significant foxing and minor creasing throughout, without glass), 'Baron Lionel' (minor foxing to edges), 'Statesmen #80' (visible mounting residue upper edge), 'The Prince' (staining to lower edge of mat), 'Men of the Day #24' (mat burn to paper), 'Statesmen #78' (minor foxing and waviness to paper with visible mounting residue upper edge); all dated upper right corner with 'Vanity Fair' upper left, and titled lower margin, all framed.
