A rare and beautifully preserved Magnum (1.5 L) of Château Pontet-Canet from the outstanding 1996 Bordeaux vintage, one of the classic years for Pauillac. This bottle has been stored horizontally since purchase in a climate-controlled wine cellar at a constant 12°C, providing ideal long-term ageing conditions. The 1996 vintage is renowned for its exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon character, firm structure, freshness, and remarkable ageing potential. The magnum format matures more slowly than a standard bottle, making this an especially attractive bottle for collectors and lovers of mature Bordeaux. Bottle details Producer: Château Pontet-Canet Appellation: Pauillac, Bordeaux, France Vintage: 1996 Format: Magnum (1.5 L) Storage: Always stored horizontally in a climate-controlled wine cellar at a constant 12°C Original capsule and labels Please examine the photographs carefully for the condition of the label, capsule, and fill level. A wonderful opportunity to acquire a mature Grand Cru Classé in the highly sought-after magnum format. Parker 2015:I was shocked by how backward the 1996 Pontet-Canet was on the three occasions I tasted it in January. This wine possesses superb potential, but it appears a decade's worth of patience will be necessary. The color is a saturated dark purple. With coaxing, the wine offers aromas of black currant jam intertwined with minerals, sweet oak, and spice. A full-bodied wine, it possesses layered, concentrated, sweet fruit, with an elevated level of ripe tannin. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2035. No shipping to Suisse, England, Norway
