Under his nickname "The Worm" he became known for his aggressive defense, his exceptional rebounding ability, and his eccentric appearance. Despite his relatively low scoring output, he was among the most valuable players on his teams. During his NBA career, Rodman played for the Detroit Pistons, San Antonio Spurs, Chicago Bulls, Los Angeles Lakers, and Dallas Mavericks. His greatest successes came with the Detroit Pistons, with whom he won the NBA Championship in 1989 and 1990, as well as with the Chicago Bulls alongside Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen. There he won three more NBA championships in 1996, 1997, and 1998. Among his greatest personal achievements are five NBA championships, two NBA Defensive Player of the Year Awards (1990 and 1991), two NBA All-Star selections, two All-NBA Third Team selections, as well as eight NBA All-Defensive Team honors, seven times on the First Team. His dominance on the boards was especially impressive: Rodman led the NBA in rebounds per game for seven consecutive seasons. Overall, Rodman played 911 NBA games and averaged 13.1 rebounds per game. In 2011 he was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
