1991 Musigny Grand Cru Dufouleur père & fils. Level: high fill. Capsule: excellent. Label: excellent. A 1991 Musigny Grand Cru represents an incredibly rare, fully mature, and highly collectible bottle of Pinot Noir from one of the most revered Grand Cru vineyards in Burgundy's Côte de Nuits. Because "Musigny" is an appellation (a specific plot of land) rather than a single winery, several legendary producers made a wine from this vintage. The 1991 vintage in Burgundy was notoriously variable and challenging due to severe spring frosts and late-summer storms, but top-tier producers who managed low yields produced remarkably concentrated, structural, and long-lived wines. Wines from the 1991 Burgundy vintage are now 35 years old and firmly in their late-maturity phase. Acidity & Structure: Many 1991s are defined by high natural acidity and firm tannic structures. While the best bottles have the fruit concentration to balance this, they should generally be drunk sooner rather than later, as the fruit profile can dry out once exposed to air in the glass.
