1856 "Hidalgos" Durango. 4r. Red, two examples of very deep and appealing colour, with good margins all around, on a very attractive cover dated 1857 (May 16) from Durango to Mexico, tied by a crisp black dated cancel. Horizontal filing fold only affecting the upper margin of the stamps. It paid 8r. for 1¾ ounces beyond 16 leagues, this being a very unusual rate. Cert. MEPSI (2026). Scott 4.
