1843-C Liberty Head Quarter Eagle. Large Date, Plain 4. Winter-1.

1843-C Liberty Head Quarter Eagle. Large Date, Plain 4. Winter-1. AU Details--Obverse Scratched (NGC). With plenty of bold strike detail and traces of remaining frosty luster, this coin presents exceptionally well for a lightly circulated Charlotte Mint quarter eagle, even despite the stated qualifier concerning a few light scratches over and around the portrait. Softness of strike is confined to the centers, and it is anything but uncommon in a C-Mint gold coin of any denomination or date. Predominantly honey-gold in color, closer inspection reveals pale rose highlights that further add to the coin's appeal. Seemingly earmarked for inclusion in a budget minded mintmarked type set or Southern gold collection. PCGS# 7728. NGC ID: 25GN. Click here for certification details from NGC.
