1839 Liberty Seated Half Dollar. Drapery. WB-7. Rarity-3. AU Details--Reverse

1839 Liberty Seated Half Dollar. Drapery. WB-7. Rarity-3. AU Details--Reverse Cleaned (NGC). Bill Bugert notes that arcing die lines through Liberty's lower skirt should be present on WB-7, and they are immediately apparent under magnification on this example. On the reverse, a small die line between the TA of STATES is also readily visible and confirms the attribution. Hairlines in the fields on both sides provide evidence of the cleaning noted by NGC. Otherwise, the strike is sharp and the surfaces are bright and flashy, giving the coin considerable visual presence. Provenance: From the Jim Koenings Collection. Earlier from Heritage's Tuesday & Wednesday Select Auction of February 7-8, 2023, lot 23242. PCGS# 6232. NGC ID: 24GL. Click here for certification details from NGC.
