Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima, ca. 300 BCE - 300 CE. A Colima female pottery flat wearing a headdress, armbands, necklace with an incised rectangular pendant and loin cloth. The visage shows nicely modeled and incised facial details. Wide hips, defined buttocks, and breasts beneath the armpits are well-delineated to underscore her fertility. Applied roundels on shoulders represent scarification. A large, strong example.
