Sobre el objeto

It's one of the most desirable Ruth photos we've ever had the privilege to present to the collecting community, a specimen that earns that praise for a number of reasons. First, the image itself is a masterpiece of form, the subject captured in perfect focus and at the fullest expression of his world-beating swing. If it's not the finest study of Ruth's batting form, we've yet to see the contradictory evidence.Next, the work can be definitively credited to Charles Conlon, the most famous and revered baseball photographer of his age. Heritage made hobby headlines three years ago when we sold his complete archive of photographic negatives for just short of $1.8 million, a collection which included the genetic forebear of this shot. Conlon is a Mount Rushmore figure in the field of baseball photography, and his works are among the most coveted in the ranks of cultured collectors. Finally, the image was reproduced in a pair of important 1920's trading card issues--the 1926-29 Exhibit and the 1928-29 Star Player Candy sets--and images that have seen use in period cardboard commemoratives carry a significant premium for their enhanced significance. The borderless image measures approximately 7x4.5" in size with a hint of wrinkling at upper left corner, well clear of Ruth. By any reasonable standard, the overall aesthetics remain NRMT. Verso bears "Pacific & Atlantic Photos" stamping, handwritten editorial notations and evidence of removal from a paper backing of some form. One of the very finest Ruth images that exists.
