Artist: Wu Guangzhong (China, 1919?2010) Title: Lion woods Garden of Suzhou style art Medium: ink and color on paper Style: Abstract Expressionism, Ink and wash painting, Classical Gardens of Suzhou Size:145 x 366 cm. Wu Guangzhong had an art exhibition in Hong Kong in the 1980s. He invited Xu Jiatun to his exhibition and asked him to cut the ribbon at the opening ceremony. He also mentioned this in his autobiography (wu fu dan qing) : Xu Jiatun, the Director of the Xinhua News Agency HK Branch; came to my art exhibition personally and cut the ribbon at the opening ceremony. After he has been visited my exhibition, he complimented me a lot. In his entire life, he made 7 or 8 lion woods arts in the same style. In 1987, for cherishing the friendship between Mr. Xu and himself; he presented one of his piece de resistance art to him. This art is the biggest and the most exquisite art amongst all his work. One similar piece of his art, has been sold for 115 million RMB in Poly international action Co, LTD in Beijing. It is roughly one meter shorter than this piece of his art. This monumental art is not only embodying the great friendship between this two giants; but also honoring Xu jiatun?s outstanding contribution to rural economic development of China.
